Terms of Service
Effective October 29, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Farstar ("we", "us"). By playing Farstar, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't play.
1. Who can play
You must be at least 13 years old to play. If you're under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian, who also agrees to these terms for you.
2. The game is free, and points have no value
Farstar is free to play. There's no purchase, entry fee or prize. Light-years, ranks, streaks, stars and eclipse predictions are just for fun. They have no monetary value and can't be exchanged, sold or redeemed for anything. An "eclipse" is a prediction for bonus points only, not a wager.
3. Your display name and answers
You're responsible for the display name and answers you enter. Don't use anything that is:
- hateful, harassing, threatening, sexual, violent or otherwise offensive
- someone else's name or identity, or meant to mislead people about who you are
- personal information, such as your full name, address, phone number or email, or anyone else's
- illegal, or something that infringes someone else's rights
- advertising or spam
By entering a name or answer, you give us permission to store it, show it to other players, and use it to run and improve the game, including showing answers in results and in the answer atlas. We may review, hide, change or remove any name or answer, and may block any name, at our discretion and without notice.
4. Play fair
Don't:
- use bots, scripts or automated tools to play or to collect data from the game
- tamper with the game, its scores or its servers
- get around its limits, or try to get access you weren't given
- overload the game or try to make it run up costs
- try to trick the answer checker with instructions or other abuse
We may reset scores, remove results or block access for anyone who breaks these terms.
5. Scores and rulings
Answers are checked by a word list and, for answers it doesn't know, by an automated AI system. Rarity estimates and rulings can be wrong. We may correct a ruling or score at any time, including after a night ends. Our rulings are final.
6. Ownership and other people's names
The Farstar name, design, code, prompts and word lists belong to us. You may share screenshots and your results, but don't copy the game itself.
Prompts and answers may mention real people, places, products, brands, films, characters and other works. Those names belong to their owners and are used only to identify them. Farstar isn't affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of them.
7. Changes and availability
We may change, pause or end the game, or any part of it, at any time, with or without notice. We may also update these terms. If we do, we'll update the date at the top, and if you keep playing, you accept the new terms.
8. Disclaimers
Farstar is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise the game will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that results, rulings or facts in the game are correct.
9. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from or related to Farstar or these terms. Our total liability for any claim related to Farstar is limited to fifty US dollars ($50).
Some places don't allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
10. Your responsibility
If you break these terms or misuse the game, and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover the losses and reasonable costs, including legal fees, that result.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute related to Farstar will be handled in the state or federal courts located in New York, and you and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction. Before filing a claim, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally.
12. Other terms
If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Farstar.
